The ITV show’s hosts flipped roles for a new special set to be broadcast a week before the next series begins.
These trials typically see contestants undertake a challenging, often fear-inducing, task involving creepy crawlies.
It has now been revealed that the pair have taken on three trials, one of which sees McPartlin attempt to eat a fish eye.
A video of this trial has been released, and it shows Donnelly watching on in shock as McPartlin puts the eye in his mouth.
“As you know, it’s all about the pop,” stand-in host Joel Dommett tells the presenter, echoing words McPartlin usually tells the contestants sat in his place.
The presenters did the trials in Australia following the conclusion of the show’s 2019 series.
“I feel this is payback,” McPartlin said, adding: “We’ve got away with it for so long that they’re just going to throw everything at us.”
